Please Drive 25 in our Neighborhood

Virginia law states that the speed-limit in residential neighborhood is 25 MPH. In the Fan we have two public schools, a major university and many churches and shops. The FAN is a Walking-Friendly neighborhood, please obey the speed limit and make it a safe place for our childen and residents.
 
Graffiti Vandalism is a Crime!

The FAN is the oldest collection of Victorian Houses in Ameria and is on the register of Historic Places.

Graffiti is a crime in the city punishable by up to a year in jail! The citizens of the Fan go to court to make sure vandals get jail time, even for a first offense. So please respect our neighborhood. If you see Graffiti in progress please call 911 immediately.

Please Pick up after your Dog!

Picking up after you dog is the LAW, and it's a neighborly thing to do. You could be fined up to $250 for each offence on our sidewalks, streets, alleys, tree wells and private property.

Posting of Flyers and Signs

Posting flyers and signs on public property is illegal!! You could be fined up to $50 for each sign for each day. (City Code Section 38-111)
 
Stow your Supercan and Recycle bins

Super cans and Recycle Bins must be removed from City Property by 7:00 PM on collection day. (City Code Section 86-44)

Who is responsible for my alley maintenance?

You need to keep the alley free of trash, debris and brush. You also need to keep the vegetation cut. And please don't discharge water from sump pumps or pools into the alley, it's not allowed.

Who's job is it to keep the sidewalks clean?

Did you know that you are responsible for keeping the sidewalks and gutters that are next to your property clean and swept?
The code of the City of Richmond says that as a property owner, tenant, or in charge of a building used for conducting a business, you are responsible for sweeping any paved sidewalk or gutter once every 24 hours and could be held liable for a fine of up to $100. That includes snow too! Yes, really! Please do your part to help keep Richmond an attractive place.

Who is responsible for cutting the grass between the sidewalk and the curb, or in my alley?
You are. However, if there is a street tree that needs some trimming, don't attempt it yourself. Report it to 804-646-7000.
