Ten homes in Richmond’s Fan District will open their doors for the 44th Annual Historic Fan District Holiday House Tour. The Fan District Association, a civic association that is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of this urban residential area, sponsors this holiday tour, a tradition among Richmond holiday gatherings.
Richmond’s Fan District, a revitalized, residential neighborhood made up of late 19 th and early 20 th century houses, is one of the largest and least altered historic townhouse districts in the South. The Fan District is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and represents one of the largest concentrations of Victorian period townhouses in the United States. Predominant Fan architecture includes Queen Anne, Italian Renaissance, and Colonial Revival styles along with the notable Richmond townhouse design of one room and a hall wide, common to the period.
This years tour will feature homes in the central fan on Monument Avenue, Hanover Avenue and Park Avenue
