Take a stroll along some of Richmond’s most beautiful streets during the Fan District Association’s 45th annual Fan Holiday House Tour. Enjoy twelve fabulously decorated homes guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit and spark your imagination with unique ideas for your own decorating!
The Fan Holiday House Tour, the FDA’s only annual fundraiser, supports the mission of our neighborhood association. The FDA was founded in 1961 by a small group of Richmonders dedicated to preserving one of the largest concentrations of Victorian period townhomes in the United States. We are proud that the mandate to preserve, restore and better our urban community continues today.
Tour proceeds support neighborhood improvement projects such as maintenance and upkeep of parks and streetscapes, as well as trash and graffiti cleanup. Proceeds have also allowed for the purchase of historic street signs and period lighting.
Richmond’s Fan District, named for its fan-shaped layout, was designed during Richmond’s streetcar era. The area is full of richly detailed one hundred-year-old mansions and townhouses. Each is unusual with architectural features including spellbinding stained glass, wide porches, and intricately carved columns. Our neighborhood, on the National Register of Historic Places, sparkles in December with festive holiday decorations adorning doors and filling parlors. We hope you will join us at this magical time.
