Fan Village is a neighborhood committee focused on assisting residents "age in place."
The Fan Village needs a new leader. Email president@fandistrict.org if you are interested.
With more than 60 volunteers, the Fan Village provides free assistance to our older residents as well as to those who may be temporarily disabled due to illness or injury. There is no charge beyond your annual FDA membership dues. The Fan Village program may be expanded in the future based on interest and demand.
The Fan Village group meets on the second Tuesday of each month for coffee or an early lunch at the Best Café in The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Interested FDA seniors and Village volunteers gather at 11 a.m. at the rear of the Café for an informal social hour. No reservations are required, all are welcome, and VMFA admission is free, and parking is free to Museum members. Additional social events take place throughout the year.
The Committee has compiled Transportation Information on profit and non-profit agencies, businesses, and voluntary programs that provide transportation services to adults and their families in the Richmond metro area.
The Fan Village Committee meets as needed throughout the year.
Want to learn more? The Fan Village flyer describes the services currently offered and is suitable for sharing or posting as needed. Fan Village volunteers can assist with small tasks around the home such as changing light bulbs and batteries, sweeping and clearing sidewalks, light gardening chores, and so on.
