TREES AND PARKSThe Trees and Parks Committee partners with residents, the City of Richmond, and VCU to keep our parks and alleys looking beautiful. The Committee holds several events a year, including Adopt-A-Tree Programs, coordinated park gardening, and alley cleanups. It's a never-ending job, and takes a community to keep up. Help is always needed and encouraged! |
The Fan District Association of Richmond, Virginia is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization is always looking for generous donations to beautify the area. We have started a new process where individuals or groups can donate funds directly to the Fan Parks. Follow these steps to donate:
Step 1: Visit our Venmo account or scan the QR code Step 2: Enter the amount you wish to donate. In the donation comment section, please list your name and address and/or email address, and the park you wish the funds to go to. We ask for this information because we will send a receipt at the end of the year to allow you to explore deductions from personal tax returns since this is a charitable donation. |
The Adopt-a-Tree program for the Fan District will be entering its 16th planting season in 2025. Applications will be accepted from June 1-Sept. 1. Planting will begin in late fall or early winter - November through March. Only trees indigenous to Virginia will be planted. The cost for adopting a tree is $100 per tree. Any resident of the Fan may apply for a tree, and you may purchase a tree for a neighbor, however you will be responsible for the maintenance of the tree. With the help of the City of Richmond and the Fan District Association, there have been more than 1,100 trees planted since 2010. We are the only neighborhood in the City that has consistently planted trees for 15 years in a row, and it has been because of the support of our Fan neighborhood and the City of Richmond.
