Annually, residents in neighborhoods throughout the City of Richmond and across the nation, lock their doors, turn on the outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.

Many neighborhoods throughout Richmond will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, concerts, etc., where there will be visits by the police and other first responders.

National Night Out (NNO) is designed to
1. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
2. Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts;
3. Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police‐community partnerships; and
4. Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

In celebration of NNO, the FDA will sponsor a free concert in Meadow Park with live music and BBQ dinner for our members. Members of the Richmond and VCU police departments, fire department, and other first responders will be visiting throughout the evening.
